At our Junior College circus one name and one person stands out above all the rest in estimating the '48, '49 school year. It is the name of our dean, Miss Nelle Blum. We of the Griffon Yearbook staff could say much in praise of our dean, but instead we will merely point out that Junior College is fortunate to have for its director a person of great wisdom and personal graciousness. Our thanks go to this fine lady for the many rich contributions she has made to the future life of all Junior College students, past and present. LUM A , A57 M A EDGAR c. LITTLE, B.s.,M.s. Mr. Edgar C. Little, our capable Dean of Men, has been vocation advisor to a number of Junior College students this year. He has acted as representative of the school's administra- tion when necessitated by the appearance of Junior College students in cities outside of St. Joseph. We wish to thank Mr. Little for his earnest efforts in behalf of Junior College and its students. V page five

tefldem To present a good performance a group capable of carrying out the duties of finance and administration, must be present behind the circus scene. ln the case of our Junior College circus, the members of the Saint Jo- seph School Board act as the finan- cial angels and directors of policy. Mrs. Clifford Adams, a board mem- ber, resigned her position late in the second semester of our school term. Mrs. John Wyeth was appointed by the board to fill the vacancy left by Mrs. Adams' resignation. Mr. George L. Blackwell, our ener- getic Superintendent of Schools, was recently re-elected for a fourth term by the School Board. Under his super- vision the Saint Joseph school system has made many advances in past years. With interest in improving educa- tional facilities and standards mount- ing throughout state and nation, an even better and more extensive pro- gram for American education seems not too distant. l First raw left to right Mr E F Garvey Mrs Clifford Adams M I-I I-I 'vm' , . h - per Mr D W Hopkins Mr W Fairleigh Enright.
