THE TORCH BEARERS So I speak Not for myself, but for the age unborn. l caught the fire from those who Went before, The bearers of the torch who could not see The goal to which they strained. I caught their fire, And carried it, only a little way beyondg But there are those that wait for it, l know, Those who will carry it on to victory. I dare not fail them. Looking back, I see Those others .... with their arms out-stretched pointing to the future. Alfred Noyes .Eng Ji TEACHER, F RIE D, PHILOSOPHER, ..LEGE D WILLIAM I. CPGPJ FERGUSO - f. His team was sparked by all purpose man Clint Anderson. Anderson personally accounted for 21 and one quarter points in a very big victory over arch-rival William Jewell. Other stars of the team included Ron Pecina, who was undefeated in four years of dual meet competition. Jim McCartney was another valuable man who ran the 100 and 220 yard dashes, and also anchored a very strong 440 yard relay team. SPORTS 172 in-.1 X Others who were an important asset to the team this year in- cluded Bob Hey, who threw the javelin and discus. Harry Lineberry who was the miler and 2 miler, also contributed much to the Viking team. Andy Sivess, Jim Roskelly, and Charles Barker could always be depended upon to get a few points for our cindermen. f Nr xii: lG -' Dave Bremer, Bill Ennis, Charles Horton, and Tom Klinginsmith prac- tice the baton pass. ,Etc , 5 Javelin throwers Bruce DeFicld, Paul Vaillan- court, and Bob Hey. 173 SPORTS at I 5? 1 1 'F' 1 ' vs' Q iw-Q Q et 'iii---ii., ' ,5'1? It was a struggle and at times a very trying, frustrating and depressing experience to produce the 1969 Sabiduria for the students at Missouri Valley College. But, because Valley is growing, changing, progressing and improving, it was a privilege to try to capture this atti- tude of change within the preceding 176 pages. We hope that what we have produced is satisfactory to a majority of students. If not-well, then, we tried. There are innumerable people to whom we owe a note of thanks. Most gratefully our appreciation goes to Lowell Knauss and the MVC photo labg the Delta for their financial assistanceg Mr. Gary Brown for his interest and supportg to Nancy Donaldson for her time, talents in designing this year's coverg and most of all to the few loyal and reliable members of the staff. We must say that we're glad it is finished-the work is complete-the tension is over-and another year has ended. Producing and editing the Sabiduria has been an experience that we'll never forget, nor regret. Thank you.
