The num- ber of students majoring in chemistry has increased from two in 1953, to one hundred and two for the fall semester, 1964-65. Close to ZB100,000 has been invested in new equipment and additional staff members are being sought and plans formulated for a new building to accommodate the increased number of students in engineering as well as sci- ence. The department plans to maintain high standards in the teaching of chemistry to all stu- dents. All chemistry majors will be adequately trained to enter industry or to complete work for advanced degrees in the field.
