PAUL PONDER Assistant Dean EMMETT KLINKERMAN, Business Officer. Assistant Dean Leon Hershkowitz is the Placement Director for the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy and coordinates with companies for all job interviews on the campus. Dean Hersh- kowitz is also the advisor to all frater- nities and organizations, and makes recommendations to the school discipli- nary board. Assistant Dean Paul Ponder handles scholarships, student loan funds, and part-time employment. The Registrar's office has recently com- pleted installation of a card punch system that facilitates the registration of the increased student body. ROBERT LEWIS, Registrar. THE ADMINISTRATION Dr. Merl F. Baker, new Dean of the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy, attended the University of Ken- tucky where he received his Bachelor's degree in Me- chanical Engineering in 1945. After a two year tour in the Navy, Dr. Baker enrolled in graduate school and served as a part-time instructor at Purdue University. There he received his Master's degree in 1948 and his Doctor's degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1952. The School of Mines is fortunate to have such an out- standing young inan to guide it in the years of dy- namic growth that lie ahead.
