Civil-Engineering is the oldest and broadest of the engineering professions and had its beginning in the dawn of civilization. Civil Engineering deals primarily with the planning, design and building of private structures and public works. Civil Engineering, while a broad field, has various major branches in which to specialize, including highways, railways, hydraulics, structures, foundations, sanitation and consulting. The department is housed in a new one-million-dollar classroom and laboratory building and offers the students the most modern in educational facilities. Civil Engineering offers a truly fascinating, challenging and satisfying career. em ERNEST W. CARLTON, Department Chair- man, Professor of Civil Engineering 1923, 1936. B.S. in M.E. 1920, M.S. Ind. Ed. 1926, Colorado State U., B.S. in C.E. 1950, Missouri School of Mines. l YT , F, ,nav-.. - - Y-ff-1 , , 1 1 x 1.: zwwfra- . b The Civil Engineering Building.
