I Prospecting and Development, Mine Production Meth- ods, Surface and Underground Surveying, Mine Eval- uation, Safety and Ventilation-all serious matters to the future Exploitation Engineer. For these Miners the bow-tied department chairman, Dr. l. D. Forrester, is the foremost authority. , ' The Mining,Geologist differs from the Exploitation Engineer in that he picks around finding the minerals While the latter blasts the stuff out in great quantities. The education that a Mining Geologist gets is essen- tially the same as that of the Exploitation Engineer with the exception that more geology is included. Graduates of this department are ,spreading the fame of the School of Mines throughout all parts of the world. x t I 1 Model of a mine. Page Twenty-Six 1

Picks, safety shoes, helmets and car- bide lamps-here come the Miners, streaming from that unimpressive building that was miraculously con- yerted from a Warehouse. This is the home of the Mine 11123 Department, rich in tradition and famous through- out the world. Many of the departments lab courses are conducted at the school's full-scale mine. This mine is fully equipped, but yields a very pure form of Worth- less Ozark hardpan. The Petroleum Enqineerinq students, Who never seem to finish their course in the standard four years, are Guided by an experienced oil man, Prof. F. A. Graser. Page 'Twenty-Five 1-.,.,,m I.
