And many of the lgbs which provided the rudimentary understanding of practical application have had to be temporarily dispensed with until additional space can be ob- tained. lt is fervently hoped that Mechan- ical l-lall will have an offspring soon to aid in the indoctrination of fresh reserves in the principles of machine design, power plants, heat transmission, aerodynamics, etc. Perhaps you will remember this homey building best of all for the tech- nical discussions carried on around that machine where the little nickels fallp and where you get that pause that refreshes. While stumbling through the halls .of Mechanical l-lall, one may encounter a husky frame wrapped in a brown suit and with a smile, centered around a cigar, hanging from a naturally jovial face. lt is said that Dr. Miles, he who assumes the headaches of the Mechanical Dept., teaches aerodynamics, advanced thermo, heat transmission, and other graduate courses when he is not fishing or flying off to some unheard-of locale. The Mechanical staff includes Mr. Bull Cizek, who is undoubtedly the largest per- sonality on the campus. Pew departments can say that they have a real humorist such as the M. E.'s Glenn C. Boyer. Prof. Boyer recently dug out his loe Miller joke book and now has entered the field The trouble-sliooter. of entertainment as a hobby. And then there are the two wizards, Prof, Kilpatrick, who is the wizard of the machine shop, and Prof. C. l. Young, the wizard of the blackboard. If Leafrntotg why. Learning how. Page Seventeen

This fact has been demonstrated during the past l college year with the appearance before the local section of such outstanding engineers as C. G. A. Rosen, Research l Director for Caterpillar Tractor Company: Otto de Lorenzi, . Director oi Education for Combustion Engineering Com- pany: and Mr. lgor Karassik, Application Engineer in the Pump Division of Worthington Pump and Machinery Corp. This past year the membership in the Student Branch has reached an all time high of 178. This figure does not include the graduate and faculty members who have taken as much an interest in the organization as have the underclassmen. Meeting room. Consultation. Page Nineteen
