oel Hubbard ' Registrar Mr. Noel Hubbard was appointed reg- istrar of the Missouri School of Mines in l942l x having served as assistant registrar since isss 1923. The untiring and relentless efforts of Mr. Hubbard are constantly being utilized during the present period of advance- ment of our school. The competent guid- ance and assistance which he and his efficient and well-organized staff extends to each student-from the high school graduate who is applying for admittance to the graduate who is well grounded in engineering principles and is inculcated with humanistic ideals-is appreciated by all concerned. The student body congratulates their amiable Ma Hubbard on his twenty- fifth year of association with the School of Mines. Rex Z. Williams Assistant Dean Dean Williams, a Holla product and the protege of the town folks-always a su- perior student, began his lengthy associa- tion with the M.S.M. faculty in the capacity of Instructor of Mechanics in l93l. He was elevated to full Professorship in l9467 and, in the same year, he was appointed As- sistant Dean after serving as Acting Dean of the Faculty during Dean Wilson's ab- sences from the campus in 1945 and 1946. The capable efforts of Dean Williams are unceasingly devoted to the rapid growth and national recognition of M.S.M. The graduating senior will probably re- member him with particular appreciation for the work he has done in his capacity as liaison agent between the student body and our prospective employers. Curtis L. Wilson Dean Surely the student recalls his freshman orientation ,lecture and the parting words of Dean Wilson's address- My door is always open. One readily observes the no- torious possession of Dean Wil- son, his cream-colored felt hat, clinging to a clothes tree in the far corner of his office. There at his desk, with his radiant personality and integrity-and with his cigarette holder pro- truding from his left hand-his glittering eyes glued to the batch of papers which his right hand possesses, Dean Wilson sits. Today our school is the best school of mines in the World. Much of the tremendous ad- vancements, including the rec- ord shattering enrollments, which our school has made during the past decade, should be attributed to the capable ef- forts of our Dean. Harry J. Fields Business Manager Anyone who is familiar with the school's Business Office would not be sur- prised if Mr. l-larry Fields, chief executive of that department, were to suddenly an- nounce, We have reached our goal. M.S.M. now has the most complicated bookkeeping system in the world! Mr. Fields, a graduate of Missouri Uni- versity, was appointed Business Manager in 1946. The large enrollment and the great amount of purchasing done by the school since that time has meant addi- tional work for the Business Office, and Mrg Fields and his staff are doing an ex- cellent job. The commercial dealings of our growing institution have reached the proportions of big business. Ernest P. Hendrix Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds Mr. Ernie Hendrix, Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds, is probably the most versatile executive in Parker Hall. A typical morning might be divided be- tween such administrative duties as dic- tating letters and such field work as in- stalling a new switchboard in one of the power plants. Whenever a worker on the maintenance crew is faced with an im- possible task, especially of an electrical nature, he is liable to scratch his head and say, Well, l guess l'd better call Ernie. An electrical contractor by profession, Mr. Hendrix's first job with the School of Mines, in l943, was in the capacity of electrician.
