E E i Q Governor Warren E. Hearnes Southwest Missouri State College has made much progress under Warren E. Hearnes, the governor of Missouri. With the appropriations received under Governor Hearnes, SMS has grown and is still growing to provide more facilities to be used by students in search of knowledge and an education. The new Communication Arts Building is perhaps the best example of progress on the SMS campus this past year, along with the extensive rennovation of the Administration Building. These projects, however, merely paved the way for additional expansion, as a new Physical and Life Sciences Cen- ter gleams in the future. The SMS campus is always increasing in size, and more land gives room for growth and opportunities for advancement on the college level. Progress also includes other things besides new buildings, for to meet the demands of an expand- ing college, there were improvements made in equipment and salaries, and new staff members to take their places alongside the competent and able veterans of SMS. Everyone associated with SMS is proud of its progress which has been furthered under the admin- istration of Governor Hearnes and the Missouri Legislature.

Games, club meetings, elections, dances, and concerts are only a part of campus life, for let us never forget the occasional study date or the frequent visits in the Snack Bar-eat- ing or just catching up on the latest news! Campus life is what all the students are doing, no matter how insig- nificant it may seem.
