mOTHER COURAGE HAD HER CHILDRED Mother Courage and Her Children was the first play by Bertolt Brecht produced by the College Theatre department. The highly theatrical produc tion utilized set units, film, music and song to play on the audience’s imagination rather than make a realistic setting for the scenes. The production was entered in the Tenth American College Theatre Festival, and Raymond Lee’s costume designs were nominated by the Regional Festival judges for Outstanding Technical Achievement. Cinderella CINDERELLA played to over 5,400 school children in Joplin, Carthage, Neosho and Lamar in a total of nine performances. This was the 16th show produced by the Show-Me Celebration Com¬ pany of the Theatre Department and sponsored by Joplin’s Association for Childhood Education during the past nine years. Children are the liveliest of audiences—oh’s and ah’s for Cinderella, cheers for the Prince, applause for the Fairy godmother, peals of laughter for the step-sisters. Live theatre gives the children an experience not touched by television.
