The Shrine circus came to t he MSSC stadium again last August, bringing lions and tigers and bears (oh, my) as well as clowns, aerialists and equestrians. Victor Marchette, author and former CIA agent, criticiz¬ ed the agency in his lecture October 18 for being too secretive. Its function should be as a collection, research and analysis operation, he stated, not as a highly classified dirty tricks department. “You can’t tell the public everything, but the U.S. citizen should be aware of the overall picture.” % i % 24

FLASH CADILLAC AND THE CONTINENTAL KIDS rocked and rolled across the Taylor stage September 9 to the tunes of the fifties. Their appearances in Happy Days, Midnight Special and in American Graffiti preceded their local debut. WOODY HERMAN, a great jazz band leader for forty years, lead his band—all in their twenties—through a sensational concert of blues, jazz and rock. His “Thundering Herd” proved there is nothing old fashioned about the big band sound, as the audience clapped and cheered and stood for a thunderous ovation. 26
