First a petition bearing names of prospective members along with a tenta- tive constitution is presented to the Student Senate. Although all divisions have a share in Teacher education, this division is directly responsible to education maiors, physical education maiors, and psychology maiors. This is the only division which screens its candidates. To grad- uates Missouri Southern State College has the power to grant a life teaching certificate-a solemn responsibility. Maior emphasis is on student involvement. Newest innovations such as team teaching and video taping have been used. The Division of Science and Mathematics provides experiences whereby a student can better interpret the universe in which he lives. lt offers courses in mathematics, biology, chemistry, and physics. In 1968 the math faculty organized a math league involving eleven of the area's high schools. Each school competed with a nine member team for top score. Three scholarships were given to the highest scoring individuals. The faculty of this division has the full responsibility for developing the programs. Many problems such as use of temporary facilities and delays in receiving equip- ment are being overcome. The division launches its first graduating classes in 1968. These graduates set a standard of excellence of which future classes may be proud. Four librar- ians have been added: a cataloger, a circula- tions librarian, periodicals librarian, and an orders librarian. Increased use of the library is evident.
