GENE TAYLOR EI-'VIN UMMEI In May of 1964, the voters of Jasper County made higher education available to more students by placing Joplin Junior College under the direction of a county board of trustees. When the school became Jasper County Junior College, plans were formulat- ed to buy Mission Hills as the site for an enlarged campus. With the change of administration, Roi S. Wood, Superintendent of Joplin Schools, no longer served as president of the college. A plaque was presented to President Wood at the 1964 junior college commencement on recognition of his twenty years of outstanding service.
