A Tribute to President }. H. White Twenty-one years of hard work, superb planning, dynamic leadership, drive, stimulating accomplishments have put all of us in Mississippi in deep appreciation of his genius and sincerity. A tribute to President J. H, White was written when Allen-White High School was given his illustrious name, when Lane College was given A rating by the Southern As- sociation, and when he had the courage to come down out of the hills of Tennessee to accept the challenge to build this great institution on a snake-infested swamp in the Delta Wilderness near Itta Bcna, Mississippi The story of his dream, of the struggle to build an institu- tion, despite the competition of the twentieth century, has been told time and time again. Any person who visits the Mississippi Valley State College campus will observe that the unique buildings — well equipped, the student citizenry with opportunities to be helped, friendly professors with high aca- demic standing, a well trained administrative staff and a wholesome relationship — all arc conducive to study and in- tellectural growth. Back of all his yesterdays has been the improvement of the people he has had the opportunity to lead. Here at Valley State the accreditation of MVSC by the Southern Association ot Colleges and Schools, its many affiliations, and the high requirements of conduct, respect for the right, appreciation of cultural values and desire to compete in athletics, music, speech, drama, and scholarship, combine tg make him im- mortal in history. We shall ask God to bless his latest move toward a devel- opment program which will contribute to Mississippi Valley State College as it is projected in awe-inspiring tomorrows. Friends Foundation, Inc. is the scene, the Big Book to keep record of a Million Friends, the supplement to state appro- priation, will continue the ideals for which he has given his useful and servicable life. Mrs. J. H. White has stood by the first and only President of MVSC throughout the years. She has made Friendship Manor, the home of the President, a home away from home. We appreciate our First Lady with all our hearts. President and Mrs. J. H. White
