When MSCW became Mississippi University for Women in 1974, The W had made yet another advance in the broadening of the dream. Much of the school that earlier students had known was changed and continued to change. New buildings were erected and old ones renovated. Men were admitted as students. Faculty came and left. Enrollment fluctuated. But through it all, The W dream stood tall. The face of the Callway clock tower told of the continuous passing of time, but still the spirit of The W remained unchanged. Still were heard the words of familiar songs, still Mary the Ghost roamed the fourth floor of Callaway, still the freshmen serenaded the upperclassmen, still the sophomores were sold as slaves, still the juniors mocked the seniors on Stunt Night, still the seniors were hailed in the cafete- r1a, Mary lo Madison and Dolan Shoemaker
