cmiaaiazipui gum inlzge for 3110mm inumhus, glwssisaippi Orr'CE or THE PRESIDENY The President's Message To the Class of 1951: You finish your undergraduate college career at a time of great opportunity for those disciplined as you are in mind and in spirit. In a world distraught by false and conflicting ideologies, strife, hatred and war, you offer healthful bodies, disciplined minds, superior standards of citizenship, a variety of skills, correct principles of conduct, high ideals, and demon- strated qualities of leadership. These characteristics you have acquired in consecrated homes, in God-fearing churches, in publicly supported elementary schools and high schools, in a state-supported college, all under the protection of state and national govern- ments designed to foster life, liberty, and the pursuit of happi- ness. Now, at your time of graduation, these principles and these great institutions which are your heritage are challenged. Your unselfish and co-operative way of life on this campus for the last four years foreshadows devoted, consecrated, in- telligent, effective, and patriotic service on the part of every one of you to the nation, the state, the church, the home, and the civilization which have given you your chance. In whatever capacity your opportunity to serve presents itself, those of us who have known and collaborated with you in your progress from Hastings to Fant believe that you will be faithful and loyal to the best values and the highest ideals of civilization. Into this life of opportunity and service, your Alma Mater follows you with her concern and her love. In the years to come, your visits to her winding walks and echoing halls will be welcome. As your days, may your strength be. Sincerely yours, g7? B.L.Pmkhmm1 President
