In February, 1978, the University launched a state-wide campaign to raise $4 million for the construction of a Cre- ative Arts Complex (CAC). The complex would housi performing arts center to be used by the entire University community and would include theaters, concert halls, and art galleries. Thig%omplex would also provide the badly needed facilities for the departments of Art, Music and Communication. HI The campus campaign wasdivided into two areas: fac- ulty staff drive and student drive. The faculty and staff raised $120,000 in September, primarily from payroll deductions. The student drive was headed by a committee called the Student Movement in Support of the Arts.
