Wallace Colvard, Jr. dedication A new era in the history of the University began on July 1, 1960, the day that Dr. Dean W. Colvard took office as the twelfth president of Mississippi State University. In the short time since Dr. Colvard assumed office it has become evident that the Colvard Era will be one of young dynamic leadership and progress for Mississippi ' s largest university. His enthusiasm, energy and progressive ideals have affected everyone connected with the new president. Dr. Colvard ' s past record, his present work and his future plans are indications that MSU, which in a period of only 82 years has risen from a small agricultural and mechanical college into one of the nation ' s truly great universities, will know a period of progress and growth greater than any it has known before. Dr. Colvard, the former Dean of the School of Agriculture at North Carolina State College, has brought new life to a great university. It is for this reason that we, the staff, have chosen to dedi- cate this fifty-sixth edition of the REVEILLE to Dr. Colvard and his charming family, the first family of Mississippi State University.
