school of forestry Work in the Forestry School, like that in most schools, is not limited to classroom work, but includes many interesting and ed- ucational hours of work in the field, putting into practice classroom principles. Physical facilities for forestry instruction are centered about the Northeast Mississippi Experimental Forest, an 8,000 acre tract owned by the University and managed by the School of Forestry. This property, which furnishes valuable source materials for the foresters, lies within 15 miles of the school and is well stocked with a variety of timber types, tree species, and age classes. Mississippi State serves the people of Mississippi in a twofold way: educating competent foresters and conducting research to keep Mississippi green.
