. The first and most respectable of all the arts is Agriculture. Rousseau. Instruction in Agricul- ture has been offered at Mississippi State since the first students entered in 1880. From the old handmade tools, the methods of Agriculture have progressed to the great stage of mechani- zation that it is now in, and the training program offered here has progressed along with it, offering training in the latest scientific developments in this field, The framing program prepares students for better citizenship and for more efficient farm operation, for scien- tific investigation in the various special- ired fields of Agriculture, for professional service work, and for various held of business in which o knowledge of scientific agriculture is valuable.

W To define it rudely but not inaptly, engineering is the art of doing that well with one dollar which any bungler can do with two after a fashion. Wellington. The Schoo of Engineering was organized at ippi State College in 1901, although engineering has been taught as mechanic arts since the college first opened its doors in Octo- ber of 1880. From a rela- tively small beginning, this school has grown to where it now plays a major role in the activities of State. It houses many different departments and offers specialized instruction in the fields of Civil, Mechanical, Aeronautical, Electrical, and Agricultural Engineering. Of great help in the assimi lotion of advanced theoretical knowledge pre the extensive laboratories, where new experiments and advanced research are carried on.
