GRADUATE DEAN OF GRADUATE SCHOOL Dr. Herbert Drennon, Dean of Graduate School, has helped in the development of a sound graduate program. The college makes available 810,000 for scholarships and assistantships each year. The college now has several well-staffed departments for doing graduate work and every effort is to be made to bring that fact to the attention of prospective graduate students. Dr. Drennon has added graduate courses in several departments with the idea ever in mind of attracting more and more graduate students to the campus. Dr. Drennon is to be commended for a job well done. Herbert Drennon The Graduate School headed by Dean Drennon has established a record of very high standards within the School. The utilities that are available— libraries, laboratories, land, livestock, experiment stations, plus other advantages aid the development of well-trained students. The courses leading to the degree of Master of Science are many. For example, there are courses in Natural Sci- ences, Agriculture, Business and Industry, and Education. It is easy to see that State College is doing its utmost to fit boys and girls for their future positions in our world of tomorrow. ' The Last Mile. '

ior Class of 1949 has, with- out a doubt, the strangest history that any class has ever had. They started as Freshmen at many different times, some of them as far back as 1940, and some as late as 1944. The war caught many of them at the end of their Sophomore or Junior year, and off to the armed services they went. Not all of them came back. Others were lucky and missed the relative unplcas- antries of life in the service of our coun- try, but they stayed on to see State fight a losing battle against the effects of war. Yes, as a class they are quite differ- ent from anything ever seen at State. Some have started as veteran Freshmen. Some were confirmed married men with children. Others were beardless young- sters still in their teens. On warn Senior class solid its place stood in To the Senior Reveille extends tions. ila
