SCHOOLOF BUSINESS DEAN OF BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY Dean Weems came to us in June, 1940. It was that summer that the School of Business and Industry was transferred from Lee Hall to BE building. Since coming here, Dean Weems has been directly or at least indirectly responsible for several new curricula in his School. The business school is also responsible for the job-finding clinic instituted to give valuable advice on applying for jobs to college graduates. The Business School has a well-rounded curriculum for students. Most of the social sciences fall into it. Dean Weems himself is a social scientist, in that he took graduate work in economics. He is now engaged in doing a research project on the early history of Mississippi. As he sees it, special emphasis should be placed upon tying the educational program of today in with the jobs to be held by this generation in the future. R. C. Weems As our economic system has grown in importance, so our School of Business and Industry has progressed and ex- panded. It now offers professional training in Accounting, Banking, Insurance, Merchandising, Production Manage- ment, General Business, Commercial Aviation, Secretarial Science, Public Administration, and Institutional Man- agement. The regular classroom work has been made more interesting by the addition of a special library, well-equipped laboratories, and by the appearance of several guest speakers. With these improvements in mind, the future busi- nessmen of America would do well to attend State College. Student Council Representatives, Richmond, Hazard, Wooleij, and Seal.
