Casual Daydreams Reflect Isolated Moments Ghostbusting, bonfires, and Macon Lake; 1 a.m. curfews and 8:20 a.m. classes; pool hall meetings, rainy foot- ball games, and study dates — these are just a few of the memories that have been etched in the heart of most every MDJC student. College days can be both devastat- ing and exhilarating for a teenager. Ev- eryone remembers the nervous, quea- sy feeling in the pit of the stomach that appeared at the very thought of going to college and leaving high school friends behind. But, with the final hugs and well-wishes came the unforgetta- ble moving day! The day that one packs every possible thing that he will need — only to discover, once he has arrived at college, that he has forgot- ten pens, pencils, and booksl Registration day is the most hectic day of the year; there are lines to walk through, buildings to find, papers to fill out, checks to be made out, and the awful mugshots known as ID ' s! It seems that no matter how carefully planned the wardrobe is, or, how much time is spent on hair, it always turns out to be the worst photo in a student ' s life. And to think that horrible photo must be presented as an ID! In the days that follow, students be- gin stuffing their bodies with every possible type of junkfood, dreading the day that the cafeteria opens. This year students were presented with a new wrapping — but it contained the same food. Classes begin, and everyone hits the books. Little did the freshmen ex- pect a teacher who talks to his chalk! Or, the teacher who assigns 10 chap- ters the first day. When essay-writing time arrives, it is not unusual for a teacher to end up with a pile of essays not containing a single fact! With classes over for the day, there are a number of options for nightlife. First, there is the poolhall with tables, arcade games and the best hambur- gers in town. There are parties at Ma- con Lake, a good location for bonfires. There is Baptist Student Union, Mon- day night Bible studies, Thursday night fellowships, secret-pal parties, and ping-pong tournaments. There are ten- nis games, basketball games, base- ball, football and movies. Exams are memorable too. Late- night studying, early-morning cram- ming, and a lot of headaches. When the grades are released, most stu- dents are satisfied. Before anyone realizes, it is May again. Time for summer and goodbyes. But the memories and good friends are never to be forgotten.
