Dorothy Oldham Reigns Over On the football field at 7:45 October 16, 1965, Mississippi Delta Junior Col- lege celebrated its annual Homecoming festivities. The presentation of the Homecoming Court and the coronation of the 1965-66 Homecoming Queen, Miss Dorothy Oldham, took place prior to the football game against Itawamba. Also, the former queens since 1955 were introduced at this time. After the football game in which Delta defeated Itawamba 31-13, a reception in the Tro- jan Shield was given for the alumni, faculty, and students. Almost every night of the previous week students had a chance to build up their school spirit and to display their eagerness for a victory on the football field. Monday night led the way with a pep rally and jukebox dance. Students again displayed their loyalty to the school and the team with a bonfire and pep rally Tuesday night. Thursday afternoon there was a home- coming pageant in the auditorium dur- ing which the name of the queen was announced. To climax that day ' s activi- ties, Trojans danced to the music of the Lancers at the National Guard Armory. Miss Dorothy Oldham UOMECOMING ROYALTY; Maids: Sandra Little, Man . „mc.s. MDJC HALL OF FAME Most people are dependable in one way or another, but few are dependable in all ways. Ralph Denson is one of the few. Knowing this, the student body elected Ralph Sophomore Representative on the Student Council. For two years, Ralph was a valuable member of the Sunflower Petals staff, and his article Rambling was read with interest. He was a member of both the marching and the stage band. Although Ralph was busy with these responsibUities, he was an active member of Wesley for two years, and he served as its secretary-treasurer his sophomore year. Valued for his courtesy and sincerity, Ralph has won the respect of the students and teach- ers. By constantly encouraging high standards of conduct, and by boosting school spirit, he has become a tremendous asset to our school. For these things, William Ralph Denson was chosen to have a place in the 1966 M.D.J.C. Hall of Fame. Ralph Denson Dwight Tolleson One of the highest honors a student can re- ceive is to be elected to the Hall of Fame. The basis for this honor is determined by the stu- dent ' s academic work, leadership ability, char- acter, and school participation. Dwight Tolleson is one who fulfills all these requirements. Whether making a free shot in an intramural game, conducting a religious program, or editing his column in the college newspaper, Dwight has truly made life a little better for all who have had the privilege to know him. Friendly, courteous, responsible, efficient — it seems remarkable that one person could exemplify all these characteristics. Knowledge is D wight ' s goal, and he is work- ing toward it through the application of sound study habits. A scholar and a gentleman, Jessie Dwight Tolleson now takes an honored place in the 1966 M.D.J.C. Hall of Fame.
