CLOVIS SMITH Clovis Makamson Smith exemplified the students who come to college to achieve success in every field attempted. Her fresh- man year she was a representative to the Student Council and a member of the Women ' s Student Government Association. She served on the campus newspaper, the Sunflower Petals both her freshman and sophomore years. Clovis won a major part in the play Our Town and earned the Drama Award for her performance. Phi Theta Kappa membership was another achievement to be added to her list. Clovis was elected Most Intellectual girl this year. Still Constance is a wondrous excel- lence. Clovis Smith ' s success was won- drous, but success came naturally to her. Modest, sincere, Clovis was a good friend to all who knew her. Excellence became Clovis and she carried it well. Clovis Makamson Smith now joins the 1965 Hall of Fame. HALL OF FAME TRUMAN STOKES Truman Stokes was a compara- tively silent figure on campus, but his countenance portrayed depth of thought, sincerity of purpose, and humility of character. Truman was a member of both the marching and stage band. A legislator, he was elected to the Student Council his freshman year; next year he served on the Student Rules Committee. Truman was also elected as Most Intellectual Boy his sophomore year. For his achievements in grades and character he was asked to join Phi Theta Kappa. Give us courage and gaity and the quiet mind. This was the re- quest of MDJC. Truman answered this call. To the students that knew Truman, he was hard working, studious but yet had an ear for fun. Harry Truman Stokes rightly deserves this lofty position in the MDJC archives for his example of serious study and service to the school.
