wh wozoo AMY GRANT October 5, 1982, the A.E. Wood Coliseum was the scene of the Amy Grant concert. The show was opened by artist Michael W. Smith, pianist for Amy’s band. Amy’s segment began with “I Have Decided,” and went uphill from there. In addition to the soft rock, and her “songs from the heart.” This concert helped the semester get off to a great start. With the anticipation of future events as exciting as the Amy Grant concert, the audience left in hopes of a fantastic year. 24

For the fourth straight year, MC claimed posses- sion of the AWESOME Heritage Bell by over- coming D.S.U. with a score of 27 to 6. MC stu- dents anxiously awaited the arrival of the Statesmen all week by supporting the Chocs with a pep rally at McDonald’s preceded with a pa- rade on that cold November night. Students showed their true colors by wearing “Beat Delta State” T-shirts and buttons. Look out Statesmen! 23

TRUTH With the week of Homecoming came many exciting events. One of the most exciting a nd entertaining took place October 15 at 9:30 P.M. in the Nelson Auditorium. Truth and the Truth band from Mobile, Alabama performed live in concert as part of the Homecoming activities. This provided a terrific opportunity to see and hear contemporary Christian music at its finest. “Truth” are, as one of their songs suggest, “called to a higher purpose— that being to sing praises about our risen Savior.” This proved to be a most enjoyable night. 25
