CLASH OF THE CLASSES A day that always proves to be a great deal of fun is the day the classes clash. The scene of the battle was in the midst of the Quad, aiding in more participation. The emcee for this spiritfilled day was Tony Stringer. Cliff Mitchell, SBA Attorney, was the official score- keeper for the events of the day. The events included the orange pass, the water-chain race, Life-Saver pass, balloon volleyball, and several others. This was a day of triumph for the Seniors. 21

FRESHMAN ORIENTATION Besides the inevitability of death and taxes, add the yearly influx of freshmen. Not that we’re not glad to have them, you understand — it’s just that it takes a whole semester to break them in right. But each year a valiant SBA Attorney attempts to work a miracle and educate them about MC in the mere space of two weeks. Cliff Michell had his “Cliffs Cops’’ and “Mitchell’s Muscles’’ on the lookout for transgressing freshmen, who though terrified at first, soon learned that nobody would kill them for refusing to bow and scrape to seniors. The usual activities took place right on schedule, culminating in the shaving cream fight in the valley. Upperclassmen and freshmen alike benefited from the spirit of comradrie that grew out of two weeks of harassment — all in the spirit of fun. Bet in 20 years, the freshmen of 1982 will get real nostalgic about that t-shirt that reads “Property of MC Pententiary’’ and they’ll remember those days vividly. But for the present, fresh- men just want to make it to sophomore status, so they can harass the poor freshmen of 1983. 20
