Selection is made on basis of scholarship, citizenship, service, char- acter and loyalty to the ideals of Mississippi College. 24 26 28 29 30 IN APPRECIATION Troy Morgan Mohon Registrar 1 954-1 977 Mr. Mohon left a position at Clarke College in 1954 to come to Mississippi College as Registrar. For the past twenty-four years he has counseled with and kept track of the records of literally thousands of students. During his early years at MC the Regis- trar ' s Office was responsible for recruitment and admissions as well as record keep- ing. Records were kept and processed manually until the College acquired a com- puter in 1964. To Mr. Mohon we of The Tribesman, on behalf of Mississippi College, express appreciation for 24 years of faithful and dedicated service and responsible Christian leadership. Mr. Mohon holds the B.A. degree from M.C., the M.A. from George Peabody College for Teachers and has studied further at the University of Southern Mississippi, the University of Mississippi and Yale University. sr The Founders Award is conferred annually upon the senior student who has made the most significant contribution to the student life of Mississippi College in exemplifying the ideals for which the College was founded and in leadership and service. The award was established in 1974 to be administered by the College at the discretion of a representa- tive committee of administrators, faculty and students. In addition to providing entertaining half-time shows for each of the home football games, the band per- formed in the Homecoming Parade and the Christmas Parade, plans include adding out-of- town appearances in the near future. Dr. John H. Hanbery Director of Bands Dr. Hanbery came to MC in August 1976 as Assis- tant Professor of Music and Director of Bands. He holds the Bachelor of Music degree, the Master of Music degree and the Doctor of Arts degree in mu- sic from Ole Miss. Prior to coming here, he served as band director at Union High School, Kosciusko High School and Mississippi Delta Junior College. He is married to the former Mary Beth Jones of Kosciusko and they have two children: Lisa and Da- vid. After receiving his degree in pharmacy, master of science, and doctorate in philosophy, he has authored more than 80 technical papers in scientific journals and co-authored a textbook in his field. He was responsible for the de- velopment of a chemical, propoquin dihydrochloride, which is used in the treatment of malaria. In testing, this drug proved 97% effective with a single injection.
