LS O N Guided by the Christian character of its pres- ident, Mississippi College has this year reached a height that has never before been reached by the institution in its one hundred twelve years of history. What has been in the previous years of this college is now forgotten. We are looking into the golden future. All that this college has been, all that it has meant to its hundreds of graduates, all that it has meant to the Baptists of Mississippi, all that is dreamed of and hoped for in the future has direct relation to the brief but eventful six years of Dr. Nelson’s administration. Becoming president of Mississippi College in 1932 after a period of years of preparation for this gigantic task as a professor in one of the college departments, Dr. Nelson has endeared himself to all those with whom he has come in contact. His sympathetic ear for student prob- lems, his scholarly bearing, his tact and skillful management of all situations have been a guiding light to the student bodies of the past a nd the present. Above all these outstanding attributes, however, his sterling Christian char- ter and his unsurpassable business ability stand supreme. With his sincere Christian attitude he has held Mississippi College to the unparalleled ideal of truth and virtue. He has been an inspiration to the students to seek God and the fuller life. With his remarkable business ability he has brought the institution out of difficulties and has steered it to the high level on which it now stands. Throughout the almost superhuman tasks of bis administration, our president has remained a true follower of the Gleam — ever striving to higher and nobler goals in the years to come. [ 13 ]
