After completion of high school in 1958 Captain liordy enlisted in the Navy. He received a Fleet Appointment to thC U.S. Naval Academy and was graduated and commissioned in 1965. Captain Bordy's initial sea duty was in USS RADFORD QDD 4-161 as .-Xnti-Submarine Vtarfare Ollicer. lle then attended the LMS. Natal Destroyer School followed by assignment to USS GYATT tDD 7121 as Engineering Ofticer. From 1970 to 1972 Captain li-ordy attended the LMS. Naval Postgraduate School where he earned a Masters Degree in Physics with a major in Ocean SystCr11S Engineering.
