M.V. has the prettiest girls in the county (we think) as is shown on this and the following pages. In addition to beauty, talent, charm and academic ability, our girls have the competitive spirit to keep striving for the top. Picture 1 shows Miss Rhonda Linn Longfellow as Miss Teenage Junior Miss. Picture 2 shows her in one of her dance costumes. Picture 3 is Miss Kim Costello as Miss Chick of Darke County. Both of these young ladies have participated in the Bradford Pumpkin Show, the Tipp City Mum Festival, were Homecoming Queen candidates, and numerous other school activities including Varsity Cheer- leading. c ronzsconzing 56 eiHCKfiKtnfcS-BEUfittf ttt WtOM Pictured here are Queen Lisa Det ling whose escort for the occasion was Terry Mercer, and Runner-Up Rhonda Linn Longfellow; her escort was Ronnie Beamblossom. This year the freshmen got together and came up with a great float; they were rewarded well, when they received 1st place. Their winning theme was Blackhawks Believe in a Victory. Seniors received 2nd place with their float which carried the theme Happy Days. Students from the sophomore through the senior levels whose academic accumulative averages are 3.0 or above, whose high school days have been filled with many hours of service to the school and to the community, whose leadership has been manifested in the successes and happiness they have helped fellow students to attain, and whose forthright and honest efforts have built for themselves strong characters for use in their lives now and in the future were chosen for this distinctive honor. Using candles as sym- bols of light and inspiration to guide the way for others, emotions ran high, tears of happiness and smiles of delight from proud parents produced memories that will remain for- ever for these honor students. Football like many of our other school activities is accompanied by self sacrifice, hard work, fun, joy, and tears as so aptly expressed in the following opinion of our head football coach: I have always felt that football is a game of total sacrifice and commitment to a team goal. It teaches young men that as individuals they are only as good as the whole. And yet this great sport also displays that the whole team is only as strong as its individual parts. I only wish that 90% of the student body could have witnessed the expressions on the tear-filled faces of our players after the last game of the season. It is doubtful that many students could understand the true meaning of this total team sacrifice. For the first time in my life, I understood the true meaning behind the saying, ’It's not whether you win or lose, but how you play the game'.” Mike Thompson 7 Qr 6 'DootbaLf core, board.
