And when I waited for light, there came darkness. JOB 30:26 AFRICA TODAY the dense darkness of Africa's night is being dispelled as the Sun of Rlghteousness rises in the African sky! The rambling jungles of sorcery and witchcraft are being cut away by the Sword of the Spirit. When we see what the new day is bringing forth, oh, how we regret that Africa's night was so long! While the Church sat idly by, Islam made great advances, but faithful bands of consecrated Christian men and women have helped to mine these 'lively stones'. Graves have been filled by those whose lives have been expended in this industry of soul-winning, but the work is not yet finished. Scores of African villages are waiting to receive the Gospel of Light. How much longer they must wait depends upon you and me! Africa today is the land of the Church's opportunity. lf we fail now, that opportunity may be lost--and lost forever! - . GRACE PATTERSON Congress of Bands Speaker 125

AFRICA Christians disposing of human skulls Bapfif-mal 5e ViCe in the Gabon Q61 Qe! MBANA NGOYI fled for refuge behind a house cursing the white devil who in- vited the inhabitants of Yimenu to hear the words of God. This process recurred many times. Repulsing conviction, Mbana Ngoyi revelled in much wine, adding to this mis- demeanor brutal treatment of Buanga, his wife, climaxing these evils by his desire for a new wife. Ngoyi sought vainly for peace in the prayer beads of the white priest. One day the Mis- sionary needed jungle vine. Ngoyi brought his, but with a double purpose. He sold the vine and besought the Missionary to explain the way of salvation. Upon hearing of the wages of sin and the gift of God, he stood trem- bling and prayed, Father God, l confess my sin. Lead my heart to serve Thee. l do not want to go to hell fire. When he had con- cluded he shouted, l have found lightness, I see my body with peace -a trophy of grace in the Gabon.
