The links of this ' are too numerous to mention them each by name. There are theflihillipmes, where many of our missionaries were interned for long months.--fThere,are'the Netherlands East Indies, where several brave heralds of light laid down ' ives during the cruel years of war. There is also Japan, whose, i ron shook the world during years of death and blood-shed. These are only the most frequently mentioned of the islands of the sea, all of which have lain for long centuries in the lap of the wicked one. Many of these islands are as yet scarcely touched by civilization. The whole Island world cries out in the words of the prophet Isaiah: 'We wait for light, but behold obscurity: for bjghtf ness, but we walk in darkness! Thirty-five millions of Island people havrifever yet heard of the One who can deliver from the chains whichrlltind thgnsaf' Can't you see those haunted eyes set in.-dusky sjfpeering into the darkness, wondering what has happergi-W 'they thought they glimpsed drawing nearer through thefdense' orestego sin and superstition? Surely the sin in the Island world couldJi,ot be exceeded on any continent, however dark. Just as men placextlreir best lighthouses on the most dangerous coasts, so where sin abou,nds,'1here God's grace doth much more abound. Each-day as the tumult of the world grows more intense and the affairs of state more complicated, we who have our ears attuned' to the Spiritual realm, hear the footsteps of our Lord coming steadily down the corridors of Time, draw- ing closer and closer to the vast doors of Eternity, which He is about to fling wide. Our hearts thrill as we are gripped by the thought that soon we shall be ushered into His presence, never to be separated from Him whom we love supremely. As the vision of His nearness fastens itself upon us, we remember that we havewnot fulfilled His command. Before our eyes we see the dark corners of eartlg,,.,never yet illumined' by the light of the glorious Gospel. - ' I' ,,,,, E. - ' 'I Are you willing to take the torch of the Gospel 'to that Wlasrffibe of the Islands, that Christ may soon claimY,,His'h ' ggibff I I I Miii ,,..
