REV. AND MRS. ANDREW SANDE Upon finishing the study of the language at Makassar this couple under guidance of the Lord went to Tarakan, Borneo to carry on the work there. After the occupation of the enemy they were forced to leave their post and in the-fall of l942 they, with their baby, David, were killed by the Japanese. Their lives were fully yielded to God, at His calling they went home to be with Him forever. Absent from the body but present with the Lord. MRS. HOMERA HOMER-DIXON In l928 Mrs. Homer-Dixon le'ft for the field where for a time she was matron in the children's home at Dalat. Most of her years of fruitful ministry, however, were spent in Hanoi, Tonkin and among the tribes of this northern province. Her death in a con- centration camp on December 6, i942 released her from her du- ties as a love slave to her Lord for higher service .... neither count l my life dear unto myself. MR. FRANKLIN GROBB For sixteen years Mr. Grobb labored in Loas, where he taught in the Bible school and pioneered among the tribes. Shooting rapids and climbing dangerous trails were all a part of his active life. How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of them that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace. REV. JOHN WILLFINGER John Willfinger, a lonely pioneer, laid down his life that others might live. During his ministry in the Sesaiap district of Borneo, along with a native worker, John untiringly proclaimed the joyous Gospel to those who sat in darkness . His torch has been laid down, it lies there waiting for someone to lift it high to light the way to those places that John had in view as he la- bored in the vineyard. For me to live is Christ, to die is gain. ln the homegoing during the war of nine Alliance missionaries in French lndo-China and the Netherlands East Indies, we have suffered great loss. The deaths included a veteran mis- sionary statesman, pioneer and editor, also several valiant missionaries in the prime of life' and new recruits filled with zeal and devotion. One of these young missionaries, Rev. John Willfinger in Borneo, wrote before his surren- der to the Japanese: Very many people came and asked if they might hide me. But when I prayed and sought the will of the Lord God l was led to follow a way which is difficult for my body but right concerning my soul. lf I hide, the Christians will be forced to lie and disobey or- ders in hiding me. 'Because of Jesus Christ and 'His sheep, before l will do anything whatsoever that is not right, l surely will surrender myself. May my Saviour be with me as He promised in Matthew 28: 18-20. Until now He has been with me and l know He will be 'with me until the end. Therefore, this is my decision. The broken ranks in these fields must be closed. Many new recruits are urgently needed to fill up the gaps and provide reinforcements for large increases unto the fulfilment of our task. When God calls, will you answer YES? A. C. SNEAD

16 ,, 'Y HE school year of '45-'46 has passed with the reflections of en- riched hours, days and months of study and preparation for the work of the Master. The Living Christ, dwelling within has made every-day activities pleasant and happy. But, there were ac- tivities, not a part of the classroom, that moulded themselves into each life. Missionary Committees-The Missionarian--Logicians -Camera Club-all made their contribution of happy hours, not soon to be forgotten, and their reflections have cast a permanent shadow upon our lives. DELIGHTFUL WALKING
