Baseball team started off by winning the first eleven games of the season showing they were bound to be South Coast League champs. Gary Knopoff and Steve Polien, the starting pitchers, hoped to bury Mission's opponents under the plate. The team this year was a combination of experienced Sophomore and Junior Baseball players. This experience gave the team great speed on infield plays. The infield was one of the strongest we've had. commented Coach Peters. Most of this strength came from Dave Read playing first base, and Jim Read playing shortstop. All in all this year's J.V. Baseball team shows high prospects for next year's varsity team. . ,.
