SEPTEMBER Doin' Followed Summ r Opening' the month ol' September was the pageant starting l'ootb'tll season. Cat parades, rallies and school spirit prevai led lltrongltotit the school. Xl'ilh Mission winning lls lnst ganna against Saittd lltait, hol 'l'XY'l1l.Vl: ICS WCII' high for the all-city championship at the end ol' the season. 'l'he new student body ollicers took olhce and the pitch lor a lllllfjl. student body card drive was under way. 'l'he XVICSI' XVING began gathering news with liditor Marilyn Lea at the helm. The clubs started to l'COI'g1lIIllC and the Italian Club had its semi-annual initiation, which left the would-be pina pushers well covered with cold cream, corn llakes and other mixtures of messy substances. The lirst contest ol' the term brought about the traditional song and yell contest. lVith the sophomores yelling loud, the juniors yelling louder, the seniors raised the rool' to capture the double lunch, as usual. PREVIOUS PAGE: The crowd at the Pageant had themselves both a good time and a sunburn as the Bear footballers opened the season impressively. TOP LEFT-GETTING READY to help the menagerie awaken into McPerv's Monster were Jim and his assistants, blond-topped Carol Brady, Lil Scoma, George O'Keefe and Roberto Pease. MIDDLE---MRS. CAROLINE DEMONT started out the year like she finished it -- keeping track of the absentees. BELOW'-THE FACULTY- glad to get back after the summer lay-oft --did a but of chatting at the lunch table. OPPOSITE PAGE-TOP PANEL-YELL LEADERS Bob Pease and Lil Scoma worked hard getting the Juniors in shape for the Song and Yell contest. MR. ARTHUR JONES, PE department head, worked the summer fat off the boys In gym. LOUNGING AROUND on the tennis court lawn talking oyer vacation frolics. SECOND PANEL-HOT ROD troubles, the same as the summer, VOLLEYBALL was introduced into noon time life. THE ROTC drilled splendidlv In the football pageant. Note the tine card stunts of Abraham Lincoln in the background. THIRD PANEL-SUNSHINE found itself some fans at the foot- ball pageant with a Mission-ite group resting between yells. FRONT STEP crowd, all unprepared for the camera-gal, DOLORES PARK deyotees were many. The young lady was bashful. FOURTH PANEL-THE BEANERY, where the lads got just about everything except the bicarb they needed most. TICKET SALES for the next dame came high with such lovelies as Nadine Smith and Carol DeMont doing the selling. BOOKS AND LOOKS depart- ment with Mrs. Bergen's bookroom helpers stopping for a moment to pose, before hustltng off with their loads, I f 1 s F
