Cll Charlie CKiyil Littlefield-'els the fel- low with the suave manner .who is called Chief by members of the Annual Staff because he is editor. Kiyi is a busy man. Unlike a lot of busy men, Kiyi really gets a lot accomplished. For in- stance, Captain of the Cadet Corps, He- porter on Eagle Staff, Parliamentarian of Student Council, Hi-Y member, and chair- man of the Senior Class. With all this he manages to squeeze in time to be a guard on the football squad, which is not child's play in any man's language. C25 Iackie Rome, a miniature blond with a trend toward the dramatic, com- bines distinct creative artistry, sincerity, tact, and a search for loveliness in every situation . . . dislikes poor taste or rude- ness in others . . . a member of various clubs, Secretary of Senior Class, Secretary of H. M. Club, President of Band, and also in Chorus. Student Council and the An- nual Staff find Iackie's name listed on their roll. C33 Ethel Walsh, President of the Stu- dent Body and M. H. S.' favorite daughter . . . has Student Council record since or- ganized. Eckie likes social activities and her poise and capacity for fun make her a leader in such engagements. C45 Lloyd Baker, a swell tackle, who made the all district team this year. Lloyd is well liked and is outstanding in all he does. C57 Isis Gomez is a pretty brunette classified as a Iunior who was selected as class favorite. Besides being a member of Student Council, she is a member of the Pan-American and Home Making Clubs. C53 Margie Pratz. A beautiful Senior, who has given the band orders for the past two years. During her Iunior year she was hailed as President of the Class. This year she is secretary of the Student Council and is popular with everyone. They Stand Out Because . . C77 Marilyn Bourgeois is a slender, black- headed girl, whose secretarial ability has been a part of M.H.S. for the past two years . . . likes to spend her leisure moments read- ing or eating . . . has a flare for good grades and friendly conversation . . . abhors gos- siping females, and conceited persons. Com- pletely poised, she goes along her way, charming people to the extent that she is loved by all M.H.S. C87 Herbert Melch, Ir., a Iunior who has distinguished himself by being President of his class each year since he entered high school. This year he is not only Vice Presi- dent of the Student Council but also assumes complete responsibility for bond and stamp purchases in M.H.S. C95 Then there is tiny Tony of football fame and fortune. His outstanding work as fullback on the Eagle Squad won him a place on the District Championship team. Unlike a lot of athletes, Tony finds time to be President of the Senior Class, Vice Pres- ident of Pan-American and a member of the Student Council. ClOl Mary Annis Volz is a hard working Senior but is not a believer in favoring any one activity to the exclusion and neglect of all others. Proof of this is offered by the fact that she is a member of the Home Making Club, Student Council, Chorus, National Honor Society, Dramatics, Girl Reserves, Pan-American, Band, and Annual Staff. She was selected for D. A. R. representative. Mary Annis is not one to say much about it when she is asked to do something. She can be counted on to come through. That is a report from reliable sources. Clit Margaret Walsh. A prominent mem- ber of the Girl Reserves and the A Cappella Choir . . . She is called Margie by every- one because she is another one of those into everything important people. Cl2l Iimmie Rome-It is a well known fact that Itmmie is steady and capable. He is President of Hi-Y and Dramatics and is a member of Student Council, Pan-American, Cadet Corps, Chorus, Band, Thespian, and Annual Staff. That makes up quite a list, don't you think? Q .,- This is what we, as Girl Reserves, try to remember-to overlook the worst in people Hi-Y The local chapter of the Hi-Y, the high school auxiliary of the ln- ternational Young Men's Christian Association, was organized on March 20, l930. Organization was perfected with eleven high school students, Leston Lawrence having been elected as the first president. Newton Spilman succeeded Lawrence as president of the club the following year. The club will mark its fourteenth anniversary of continuous activity in Mission High School March 20, l944. During these years the Hi-Y Rev- Theodore I-Off has served not only as the only Christian organization in the high school for boys: but has duly emphasized its purpose to create, maintain and extend throughout the school and com- munity high standards of Christian character by employing this purpose in their socials and services given. At present the Mission Chapter has a membership of seventeen, which, allowing for the large number of boys of high school age who are in the armed services, is not dispro- portionate to the membership of other years. Faculty counselors are M. M. Harris, high school principal, and Orville Etheridge, high school athletic director. The sponsor is Theodore Lott, pastor of the First Baptist Church.
