W 'IIE Mill' AMI! TI! Though not retaining their Catholic league title, which led to the finals of the Eastern Mass. State Tourney, the Buc ni11e closed its season with a 10-7 victory over Malden Catholic, the new league titlist. Missions season record of 7-4 earned third place. The real glory of the season went to all- scholastic pitcher Harry Melia whose brilliance continued to grow. He was acclaimed C.Y.O. man of the year. His 5-2 twirling record was hurt by poor fielding. In the seven games he toiled. he fanned 72 and allowed but eight earned runs, while allowing 47 hits and walking 29. On the All-Catholic team he retained the pitching post for the All-Star game, June 15. Sharing his spitlight by their fine play and hitting were veteran outtielders Ed Nassif and Bucky Swan, catcrer Red Corcoran Hlld second sacker Bubba Clarke. Their final hitting aver- ages were Nassif .-115, Corcoran .395, Swan .341 Sullivan .322, McDonnell .300 anl Clarke 280. A CLOSE ONE AT HOME, but Bucky Swan, not in the pic- ture, approaches the plate on a homerun against Malden Catholic. Tense teammates awaiting him are Bill Corcoran, Bubba Clark and Pop Sullivan.
