Each enjoys the respect and confidence of the student body and each is well equipped for the task of molding and directing the stu- dents who come under their separate guidance. As they work in close coordination for the bene- fit of the whole school, the force of their example is seen in the fine teamwork evident in both the boys' and girls' departments. In Brother Marinus the boys have their Christ-like patterng while the girls have their Mary-like model in Sister Mary Almira. To give the students opportunities for acquiring facility in correct reasoning, for establishing a eorreet sense of values, for being aware of current prob- lems and for making this knowledge articulate, various organizations have been formed. Among these the Debating and Oratorical societies are extremely active. BEHIND THE SCENES . . . Bob Kellard answers Bob Dennehy's question at a practice session in Room 212. All the techniques of debating were emphasized in this room by Brother Jules and later put into practice during the many debates in which the boys took part. The Dance Committee is elected by popular vote and is under the direction of faculty mod- erators, Brother Rian and Sister Bl. Im- maculata. Though not retaining their Catholic league title, which led to the finals of the Eastern Mass. State Tourney, the Buc ni11e closed its season with a 10-7 victory over Malden Catholic, the new league titlist. Missions season record of 7-4 earned third place. The real glory of the season went to all- scholastic pitcher Harry Melia whose brilliance continued to grow. He was acclaimed C.Y.O. man of the year. His 5-2 twirling record was hurt by poor fielding. In the seven games he toiled. he fanned 72 and allowed but eight earned runs, while allowing 47 hits and walking 29. On the All-Catholic team he retained the pitching post for the All-Star game, June 15. Sharing his spitlight by their fine play and hitting were veteran outtielders Ed Nassif and Bucky Swan, catcrer Red Corcoran Hlld second sacker Bubba Clarke. Their final hitting aver- ages were Nassif .-115, Corcoran .395, Swan .341 Sullivan .322, McDonnell .300 anl Clarke 280. For the Class of '52 it was full of thrilling excitement as those classmates who had aehieved outstanding sue- cess were rewarded with scholarships, medals and various other honors. Father Rector gave a brief but telling talk in which he stressed our mission in the world of whir-h we were so soon to be an active part. There was a minor note of the refrain of Hail, Dear Old Mission High and a shadow in the light of the bright hall. This was caused by our awareness of the fact that something previous and treasured had come to an end. ln a few days we would form our graduation line and be together for the last time. Of course we tried to put such thoughts behind us as we greeted proud parents and friendsg but that effort did not change the fact that all this would soon become a memory.
