Wear lack And Gold. We've een Told. he Cheerleading Squads s ent hours durin p g the foot- ball season making run through signs. Every week, at the end of half-time, the football team dashed under the goalposts and crashed through these large ban- ners. The cheerleaders proudly held up these large works of art to be torn apart. It gets the whole team wild, stated sophomore junior varsity football player, Jason Cordero. The football team strived to defeat their opponents, and the cheerleaders kept on making new banners. The crowds remained faithful and enthusiastically cheerful, led by such school institutions as the Pep Band with its famous Te- quiIa , the Pep Club members with all their spontaneous spirit, and, of course, the vivacious M.B. mascot. The Cheerleaders persevered in making the quiet fans loud with excitement and cheers. 5v 'Q ff ff- ve' 0 if Lf l ml ly Lzdfx Lf, If U K J, ixjxbj-l:J,3fg,,,.'l Lfliil 51 Q' ' f fi I K Ge, f , ,ine ..,, ' 4 fl cw V i ck-f'-ff '50 KU I ffl! , lofi Q ' , ,deff QYXLVQ.. Cheer leaders arrived in uniform, and a majority of stu dents displayed the school colors of black and gold in their attire. The whole idea of Fridays is to increase school spirit and what better way to do that than to dress in colors only M.B. Bucs can appreciate! explained sophomore cheer leader, Kim Myron. So if you have been told to wear black and gold on a Friday, and you didn't, don't you feel guilty now? Don't, because spirit exemplifies a key aspect of our school experiences, and you can show school spirit in many different ways. Spirit happens to be obvious at special times like Splrlt Week, but it also became a general feeling that followed us around campus on a daily basis. Often the tangible products of showing spirit happened on the weedpatch. People received a raffle ticket for a 55.00 discount off of the annual and a piece of Spirit Cake. You felt so hungry, your stomach churned with the anxious feeling of starva- tion. Ahh! Lunching on the weed- patch proved to be a great way to relax and get away from every- thing: your classes, homework, tests, or teachers. You took advan- taae of the half hour lunch break by kicking back on the weedpatch with a coke in one hand and a sandwich in the other while watch- ing the weedpatch activities. They inevitably included seagulls flying overhead and the Varsity football players throwing food at the .l.V. cheerleaders. The weedpatch couIdn't have been the only exciting place to eat though. If you really wished to get away from everything, you either walked, ran, or hitched a ride off campus to eat at such extravagant places as Der Wienerschnitzel, Yum Yum-Donuts, Burger King, Taco Bell, or 7-Eleven. But you had to remember lunch didn't last for- ever. You had to leave this para- dise of a lunch break to get to your next class by 11:45. I wished we had more time, explained sopho- more class president, Jenny Del- roy. Shh! You were back in class now and, closed off from all fun, com- munication with friends, and un- known gossip. Lunchtime tomor- row looked very appetizing. dienc n awe L- '- Z . if ,pr ' un. , f dfigfj , N 'Six-N iJ!l4if,j7 N i Q ' fm o M 1 -3 eeeeee --.-..- or 30- EE
