Since our school was first opened, in September, l953, we at Mission Bay have moved a long way toward our goal of becoming one of California's best high schools. ln this short time, individual students have won recognition in many fields of endeavor - academic and technical fields, music, art, and athletics. Student organizations have flourished. We have a well-organized student government which provides many opportunities for learning and practicing democratic techniques and procedures. Our band is among the best. Our drill team is second to none. Our school paper is tops, and on a sound financial basis - thanks to the fine spirit of our students. Our Service Club, Girls' League, Key Club, Girls' Athletic Association and Lettermen's Club are among the student organizations constantly on the alert to make Mission Bay a better place for boys and girls. How have we accomplished these things in so short a time? Much credit is due to the caliber of students we have, and to the fine homes from which they come. Interested and enthusiastic teachers have also played an impor- tant part. Finally, we owe much to the spirit of the community in which we work. Not once has the community failed to respond enthusiastically when the school or any of its organizations were in need. This cooperation has made it possible for us to accomplish what very few schools have been able to achieve in so short a time. ln dedicating Mission Bay's first annual to the community, we feel that the students have found a' fitting and proper way to express their appreciation of the community's interest and cooperation.
