State Award Salufatorian Valedictorian Wilt C 7 itflili MR. OTTO H. SCHULTZ, ADMINISTRATOR Webster's dictionary defines a goal as an end one strives to attain. Four years ago when you entered high school, each of you set graduation as a goal. On June 5th, it will be a realization. You must now establish a new goal. Some of these will be short range and others long range. They may involve further education or the finding and hold- ing of a iob. Remember also that Webster indicates that goals must be attained through the application of effort. You may have an inherited talent or ability, but what you do with it is entirely up to you. Just as you alone can set the goal, so also you are the master of whether or not it can be achieved. Do not underesti- mate your abilities, but at the same time don't overrate yourself. Either can lead to failure. Everyone here at Mishicot High School is in your corner ready to cheer you on. If we can ever help you in any way, let us know. Good luclc. Our total membership of 105 is one of the larg- in the 14 year history of the Mishicot Chapter of Future Homemakers of America, under the direc- of Mrs. Ruth Rienks. The officers for 1962-63 are President, Ramona rich, Vice-President, Sue Hoffman, Secretary, rlene Troulllerg Treasurer, Margie Mleziva, Histori- Susie Nehring, Reporter, Shirley Wavrunek, Par- entarian, Judy Freimuth, Recreation Leader, Anna- e Meyer. Last June Ramona Genrich, Sue Hoffman, Susie ring, and Shirley Wavrunek attended the annual convention at Green Lake. Susie Nehring sang with the State Chorus at n Lake. The new four-year program of work was intro- ad at this convention. The objectives for 1962-63 1. Contributing to the ioys and satisfaction of family living. 2. Discovering myself and my worth to others. 3. Strengthening my education for future roles. 4. Launching good citizenship through home- making. lt was around these obiectives that the program ning committee, Sue Hoffman and Charlene Troul- planned the year's program. The FHA and FFA held meetings together several s during the year. The first was the picnic in Aug- The annual Christmas party that was held be- n the FHA and FFA was a success. The officers of both groups served on the planning committee for this event. A ioint FHA and FFA roller skating party was plan- ned for the year by members of the FHA. Money is necessary to any organization to carry out its programs. We earned our money by selling popcorn at the games. Judy Augustine, Catherine Stangel, and Shirley Wavrunek were in charge of this venture. Help of several members was necessary to make the venture successful. Corrine Augustine, Diane Straka, Susie Nehring, and Judy Bruhn were top salesmen in our magazine campaign. The Junior girls also sponsored a candy sale at one of the basketball games. Parties were not the only times the group met. ln February the Denmark chapter, as well as our mothers, were our guests at our monthly meeting. Mrs. Gretchen Zeismer of Mirro Company predicted our future in an interesting and informative program. Diane Sturm was the general chairman. Corrine Au- gustine and Peggy Rhein poured at the tea table, serving punch and coffee to the group. At this meeting the freshmen were initiated, and received their membership cards as Annabelle Meyer read sayings about them. A trip was taken to Madison during the year. About 30 of the members took part. We toured the Oscar Meyer Meat Company, the Forest Products Laboratory, and the University of Wisconsin. Every- one stayed at the Belmont Hotel. Those were the words that echoed and re-echoed through the busy street of the large metro- polis of Mishicot. I hurried along seeking more information about this big event everyone was talking about. I bumped into a young lady pushing a baby carriage and guiding some children along her side. I straightened myself out and started to apologize and to my surprise, there stood SHIRLEY FLLENTJE, one of my classmates in high school ten years ago. She informed me that she had married soon after graduation and was now Mrs. LYLE GRIMM. We talked for a few minutes and she told me that the big affair I was hearing about was the Eis 84 Eis Circus that was coming to town. I couldn't actually believe this, for Jim and Jane were also classmates of mine, Shirley said she had to hurry home to hx Lyle's lunch and that perhaps if I wanted to, I could get more information about the circus from BARBARA GOVE and RON KLEIN, who were managers, or from KAREN BRUCKSHEN, who was the sharp looking chick who sold tickets. On my way to Barbara's office I passed MARIAN CYWINSKI, who was busy helping her brother with a football play. Finally after entering an executive office with three IBM machines and a large terrace where her private heli- copter stood, I met Barbara, We got ourselves situated and started talking when a pretty young blonde secretary came into the room holding a glass of water and some tablets. I had to look twice to make certain that I wasn't seeing things because there stood CAROL GORZLANCZYK. We greeted each other and then sat down to talk about other classmates. The first ones I asked about were CHERYL GADZINSKI and PHILIP HORN- YAK and if they ever returned to Manitowoc County. STANLEY ZIMMER, who has one of the largest photo- graphy businesses, employs BARBARA MEYER as his sec- retary. Looking across the street at the second Empire State Building I was informed that DARLENE SCHROEDER and KATHLEEN MCMANUS were private secretaries to Ricky Nelson and Frankie Avalon. Carol informed me that JIM DEMMIN and family were coming along very nicely in the Opera Hotel. Employed as their chauffeur was DICK HOTROD KORNELY who was a private in the army and went A.W.O.L. They stopped hunt- ing for him last year. CONNIE SCHULER is now Mrs. FRANCIS SHIMANEK. She and JEANNE SCHEUER, now Mrs. JIM SPRANG, are in the baking business together, selling the largest-holed doughnuts in the business. I was then informed that LYNNE ST, JOHN and DIANE SCHMOOCK were in Hollywood making their latest picture, Two Crooks and a Lady for MGM. They had taken another classmate with them, LORRAINE STARAL, who is a stand-in for Liz Taylor. Later, after I bid them good-by, I walked along the busy streets. I came to an exclusive art gallery with large paintings everywhere, and there on the door plate were the names JOE and TOM PEROUTKA. Just then I heard a familiar giggle that came from a little fashion shop iust around the corner. Sure enough! There stood GERALDINE WEBER waiting on customers. Next to her was a tiny freckle-faced girl, SUE HOFFMAN, and alongside of her stood MICHAEL SIEHR. Zoom - went one of the largest semi-trucks ever to travel the streets. It came to the corner and I ran ahead to read the writing on the side, HAROLD FUNK Sour Summer Sausage Factory. A slight smile came over my face and then I noticed the driver, a very pretty gal who knew iust how to handle that truck. There sat EILEEN OLLENDORF, now Mrs. RICHARD EIS. Finally we came to a restaurant and finished our talk over a cup of coffee.
