C ' e t A gjjiefl i l c -JS Grammar Department Activities Fietct Trip October I2, l922, the grammar grades went on a field trip for the pkpose of identifying many common weeds in our community. It was of great benefit to us be- cause by careful observation and study we were able to recognize at least fifty different kinds of weeds, which heretofore were foreign to us. Although the field trip was not entirely devoted to weeds and their means of eradi- cation we also studied various land formations due to glacial action which are verv evident in this section We can not too highly emphasize the practical value of these trips but we endeavor to carry out this project to 1 much better advantage next year Dectamatory Contest Although we had no intentions at first to enter the Declamatory contest this year we were greatly handicaped in finding suitable material and sufficient time for prepar ation when we decided to enter However through persistent efforts we finally were successful in that Alice Zell received a silwer medal for second place This leaves a splendid record for the grades during the last two years Watch us next year Lztera ry Soczety On September l8th 1972 the Literary Society under the name of the Four L s society was organized It was organized for the purpose of bettering the classes and to prepare the pupils for future life At first meetings were held exery two weeks but an amendment was made and now the meetings are held once a month The officers elected to carry on the m tings are as follows President Hilbert Stefl Vice President Wilton Specht Secretary Adeline Strouf Treasurer Kenneth Vertz Entertaining Committee Blanche Shedivy Eunice Beyer Lester Reis The rest of the meetings were primarily dewoted to the discussion on parlimentary law and social actnitles Honor Rott Alice Zell 92 D Marcella edlicka Edith Schmidt 8 I fittx 9 - . . l u V Y V ' I .
