Xyidfd-' cg Ffiiliiti ,Zi Left to Right Dave Bell, Brent Curry, and Joe Murphy fight for a loose ball, which was knocked out by Bob Kouri, in a J.V. victory against Lawndale. The score was 33-0. This year the Marauder Junior Varsity boasted a three win, no loss, and one tie record. A lot of things happened during the J.V. season that showed good promise for next year's varsity, for instance, Chuck Barsam had 4 interceptions, two of which were run back for touchdowns. The passing attack was a combination of passes from Greg Johnson to Stan Stearns or Chuck Barsam. Johnson threw for 395 yards in 4 games. The running attack was a combination of Tom Buehner, Bob Stearns, Mark Negri, Scott San- ders, and Mark Doran, with the high gainer being Tom Buehner with 6 touchdowns. The offense scored l9 points while the defense limited the opponents to only 24 points and held Palos Ver- des and Lawndale to no points at all. The secret of the defense was making their opponents fumble the ball or throw interceptions, by hard hitting and a good pass rush by the front five. The de- fense was led by Mike Orr, Evan Wright, Bob Kouri, Dave Bell, Joe Murphy, Vance Harris, Dan Pierson, and Brent Curry. TOM BUEHNER CARRIES the ball for a long gain in a game against Glendale High. Buehner's speed and agility helped him in being the leading ball carrier for the J.V. team, as he also scored six touchdowns for the season. l 69 J.V. Football
