Both the game and halftime activities sent the crowd into a frenzied state of spirit and enthusiasm. Essex Burton paved the way for the lVlarauder victory, rushing a phenome- nal 242 yards and scoring three touch- dovvns. The Masquerade theme of the dance created a mysteri- ous, romantic at- mosphere that was enhanced by the silver and lavender decorations ador- ning the gym. The high point of the evening occured at the crowning of the Homecoming Queen and King, Tracy Cook and Vinny Lopez. As the pair commenced their spotlight dance, hundreds of white and lavender balloons rained down upon the crovvd, vvho soon returned to their magical night of ,JM dancing and revelry. 5 HOMECDNIING

suivlivlsn 5--,Essio ading aromas of tropical coconut suntan lotions, grains of sand hidden in cracks of shoes, and red peeling noses of sun-kissed faces were reminders to Nlarauders that while school had started, summer was definitely not a fading memory. Nlarauders headed near and far to make the most their summer. For heach bums craving the sun, surf and sand, La Jolla Cardiff, and Del lVlar were the places to be. Locals searched high and low all over San Diego for things to do. Shopping, movies, parties, and working helped fill up the long hot days. For the more adventurous Nlarauders went past the shores and traveled. Hawaii, Australia, lVlexico, Japan, and Canada were some of the far away locations that were explored. Amusement parks and fairs were overcrowded with ongoers. Nearby many trekked to the Del lVlar Fair, worked their way on up to Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, Magic Mountain and ended up with the Biggie, the 15386 expo in Canada. Summer of '86 was definitely a period of time to have fun, fun, fun, in the sun and a chance to live up the freedom before returning to school. Being a senior, it was my last free summer to really let go and have a great time . . this expressed Tracy Codzik's summer, 'l, Tim Kalke takes a break for the camera. E.
