Dragged up to the lunch arbor's microphone by Tammy Ely, Wnce Gilliam leads the J.V. football team in some serious crowd rousing. 5. Football player, Todd Hentges,joins Jennifer and Jody Robb in taking a look at the field from a different position, as they sing the Alma Mater at a spirit rally before the Patrick Henry game. Catchy slogans and jingles were abandoned, as Student Life climbed popularity charts, boosted by a new and improved wave of school spirit. ASB stocked leaders to keep treasuries padded and activities rolling, while newspaper and yearbook staffs met deadlines to keep students briefed. Hardly on the consumer backshelf, were afterschool organizations packaging business, political, and other opportunities or the spirit rousing Cheer, Drill, and Band Night games pack a more spirited crowd. -Tom Tucker For those just shopping around, posters and flyers advertising plays or organization meetings, provided a great selection. Dances, whether formal, semi- formal, or girl ask guy, brought in crowds waiting to cash in on action packed offer.

18 Lunch Hangouts Local Lunch Hangouts Stomachs growled as lunchtime approached, drawing out third and fourth periods to immeasurable time. Passing period bells released hungry masses to fast food havens, mall shops, cafeteria specials and the inevitable brown bag. Can I borrow some money for a Big Mac? -Jimmy Dykes Mickey D's, Burger King, and Wendy's proved popular for those searching out the All Americanl meal. Welcome at lunch time were combination deals that stretched student dollars through the week. At a loss for transportation, underclassmen frequented the local Taco Bell or filed through the crosswalks for yogurt and pizza. With money tight, options were sometimes limited to peanut butter from home or presentable eateries from the cafeteria. Those with empty wallets, choosing to leave campus, though, could cram into a noisy booth for gossip and a straying french fry. 1. Maryann Cavalan and Kendra Kordalski sip the rest of their cokes during lunch 2. A hungry student spends her last dollars to go lunchless for the rest of the week. 3. Nancy Wilson and Lainie Block cruise to Burger King's drive thru. 4. Wendy Berner points out that an apple a day keeps the doctor away. 5.
