An horing In On Spirit Who are the Cheerleaders that aren't songleaders, J. V. or Varsity cheerleaders or even Drill Team? They've performed at pep rallies and were the main performance at Homecoming. But why didn't they ever perform during a football game? That's because the group they're the Chargettes, made up of members of the Marauder football team. What are Chargettes? Chargettes are guys having a good time showing spirit. A chance to be crazy, said George Delgado. Over the summer each Cheerleader adopted one Chargette and taught him the ropes of being a cheerleader. They also made the skirts, which when combined with the Chargette's jerseys made the proper performance attire. Head Chargette, Mathis Huff, and Co-Head Scott Neumann, lead cheers which described Chargettes in a crazy, but true way: having fun and providing entertainment for the student body. 1. The Chargettes consist OL Top Row: Mike Rios, Andy Brockmire, Robert Liauw, Mathis Huff, Joe Damato, Mike Vigil, Front Row: George Delgado, Mike Stewart, Scott Neumann, and Chris Wreiden. 2. The Chargettes get together before doing some of their cheers. 3. Scott Neumann does his thing. 4. Mike Stewart and Mathis Huff show that they haue the true MARAUDER spirit. 5. Catching The Views H-sw -+i.,..Q,.g., it . 5 ... A .ns .... - , .. Junior Varsity Cheer is number one! declared Jovie Sabal. This motto was the goal that kept Junior Varsity Cheerleading afloat. The eight seamates did their best to maintain a happy aggressive crowd with jumps, kicks, cheers, chants, and somersaults. Nobody does it better than Junior Varsity Cheer, explained Captain Cheryll Robinson who also aided Admiral Anne Oberhaus in patching the leaks in the cheerleadings performance by maintaining practice five days a week. Cheering was not the only matter the Junior Varsity Cheerleaders accomplished. They sold ribbons and pins for school spirit and participated in a contest against Serra called A Mile of Pennies. 28 J. Sa 52.2-1.a9 .,.J Setting Out For Sea Us r ' f ' C The Senior Class of 81-82 had the very best times, while helping the school's 636 seniors through rough waters. They participated in many activities, such as the traditional toilet papering of the campus the first day of school. They also co-sponsored the first dance of the year, which was a spectacular event. The crew officers worked hard over the year to improve the school and provide recreation and memorable events for the graduation crew. Seven elected officers and nine appointed members including Admiral Donna DeYoung organized cruise events.
