GIRLS' SENIOR CONFERENCE Every Thursday five senior girls meet with one object in mind, that is to see that the rules of Mira Costa are rigidly enforced. They deal with problems such as smoking on campus, non-regulation dress, and infractions of senior privileges by underclass- men. BOYS SENIOR CONFERENCE Helping to maintain high standards of citizen- ship and campus conduct are just a few of the many duties of the Boys' Senior Conference. Each semester five boys are elected to this student body office. Throughout the year the boys try to prevent swear- ing and smoking, and see that dress regulations are observed. BERMUDA DAY Knobby knees and bowlegged legs were seen again for the third year on annual Ber- muda Day. This tradition always remains one of the favorites of the seniors. Showing off their colorful plaids and striped Bermu- das, the seniors again remained the envy of the underclassmen. Each senior had to pay a dime for the privilege of wearing Ber- mudas in hopes of adding a few coins to the senior treasury. W SPIRITUAL EMPHASIS WEEK At a double assembly which officially opened Spir- itual Emphasis Week, the Reverend Boyce Van Ozdell, Minister of the Calvary Baptist Church, delivered an address. The main theme of his talk was the impor- tance of prayer. The attention of the students was cap- tured because his delivery was gaged to a young audi- ence. Following the assemblies, representatives of the various religious groups in the South Bay Area were present for noon conferences. The second day began with a very different type of assembly. The speaker, Mr. Harty, from the Moody Institute tried to demonstrate how the basis of religion itself can be explained through scientific means. Concluding Spiritual Emphasis Week, the vocal music department presented an assembly in honor of Thanksgiving. Pam 22
