Lovaffo it 4- ' 'f Riding home from the graduation exercises of the class of '47, I found my- self thinking of the graduates and what would become of them. I was deep ln thought when I heard a crash and felt the car spinning over. As I regained my senses, I found myself walking down a lonely, strange, empty street. An old man was walklng toward me. He had a very long white beard and wore a peaked cap and dark blue robe with stars on lt. I stopped and walt- ed for hlm to reach me. When he got close, he said nothing, but beckoned me to follow. I did not want to, but something compelled me to follow the llttle old man down the street into an eerie appearing building. We walked into a dark room where he motioned me to a chair. As I sat down all the lights went out. The strange man polnted to a huge window that seemed to look out on the entire universe. As I gazed at lt, scenes from the futures of the graduates of '47 flashed before me like planets moving in their orbits. Next to flash before me was Ardlth Williams. She was the owner of an ex- clusive Parisian dress shop ln New York City. She had taken on the fashion line of work because she had enjoyed seeing the style shows in Paris while she and Leon Grant were there on their honeymoon. After graduating, Shirley Clark entered a business college and, with much hard study, became world shorthand champion. But she never had a chance to use this ablllty because, ln 1951, she married Bill Wilson, the new governor of Colorado. As Shirley faded from my sight, I saw Norman Covalt. After going to summer School ln Salt Lake City, Norman continued his education in college and got his degree ln Business Administration. He was now the owner of the Covalt Diaper Company', which had many brsxches throughout the United States. As the scene changed, I saw someone coming out of the Fox Theatre studio. As he walked out to his oar, I recognized him as Keith Lynn. Keith was now a populor, well known movie actor. He was more or less known as 'Van Johnson the Second'. He had gotten an interest ln making pictures after his marriage to Jane Withers. Then Gene Clark appeared with his pretty wife and six little boys. He was a professional football star and was known all over the United States for his tackling ablllty. In hls spare time, he coached his own 6-man football team ln his backyard. As Gene faded away, I saw Harold Glnther. Harold was now a Captain ln the Naval Air Corps. After high school graduation, he had gotten an appointment to lnnapolis and graduated from there with highest honors. He and his wlfe, the former Patsy Trump, were noted for their entertaining in their fashionable New York City Apartment. After taking orders from the owner of the Minturn Mercantile Company all through hls high school years, Jimmy was now giving them. Yes, Jimmy Sifers had bought the Mercantile Company, and had expanded lt untll lt became the shopping center of many Leadvllle and Glenwood citizens. The next person I saw was Roxio Ziemer. Roxio was now a great opera singer making good wlll slnglng tours around the world, and through her efforts she was fostering friendship and appreciation between all nations. She had gotten her voice training under the former teacher of Lily Pons. Then I saw Irene Montoya. She and George were now the parents of quintup- lets and owned a large beautiful home ln Denver, Colorado. Irene spent much of her time ln perfecting her ballet dancing and ln training her little girls to follow in her steps. To my amazement, I then saw myself as the private secretary of Mr. Dallas Schroeder, a noted Los Angeles attorney. I had been promised this job during my senior year. Then the scenes stopped flashing before the window of the darkened room. Before I had time to realize what was happening, the room became light and I found myself in a hospital room. As I confusedly tried to clear my mind I real- ized that I had been singled out by some strange trick of fate and had had the opportunltyeto look into the futures of the seniors of '47 and to see that they would all successful men and women. kiwii k'A A'i k'kir'ki A k'k'k'k'k'A k'k'k'A k'k'k
