The big ones The duties of administrating a college go far beyond those of a busy president. There are nu- merous and often overlapping responsibilities that extend from one end of the college to the other. As Dean of the College, Dr. Randolph Foster oversees all academic duties and faculty appoint- ments. He is a graduate of the Universitv of Texas in Austin and has just completed his fifth year as dean at Minot State. Joel A. Davy, as assistant to the president, pro- motes the growth of the college as well as in aiding in general administrative duties. Mr. Davy grad- uated from Jamestown College and the University of North Dakota. Dean of Men Herbert Parker is also a graduate of Jamestown College. He received his master of arts degree from Colorado State College. He is in charge of on and off campus housing, married stu- dent housing, disciplinary cases and official college notices. P Garnet Cox serves in the position as Dean of Women. She received her master of education de- gree from the University of Virginia. As for her duties, she never seems to be short of work now with three women's dorms to keep in line. Registrar Emil F. Sather is in charge of class schedules, student records and class statistics, as Well as in charge of the college catalogues and ap- plications for admission. He is a graduate of the University of North Dakota. Director of Extension is J. Bernard Busse, an MA graduate of Colorado State College. In his posi- tion he is in charge of college classes at Minot Air Force Base, on campus night classes, and college classes in area towns. A BS graduate of the University of North Da- kota, Oscar Quam serves as Business Manager. Among his duties are those of assisting President Gordon Olson in preparing the college budget. In charge as Office Manager, Larry Eide handles the financial details in connection with publica- tions, works on keeping the college accounts accu- rate and up to date, and oversees all college pur- chases. He is a graduate of Minot State. Publicity manager for MSC is Merritt Christen- sen. He is a graduate of the University of Minne- sota. His duties are to gather information and news releases concerning students and to distribute them to area newspapers as well as to promote college growth through publicity. Dr. Frank Bauman is Director of Student Teach- ing. His job is to place student teachers in area schools. He graduated from the University of North Dakota. As director of the Placement Bureau, Dr. Olger Myhre helps MSC graduates find positions in vari- ous school systems. Dr. Myhre graduated from the University of North Dakota. Dr. James Brandt serves as student counselor for MSC. He is in charge of special interest tests and councils students with problems. He graduated from the University of Iowa. I8 -nv ,E l., at DR. MSC'S 6th president Dr. Gordon B. Olson assumed the position of president of Minot State College July 1, 1967. Before this appointment he had been Dean of Dickinson State College. Also at Dickinson State he had been Chairman of the Division of Educa- tion, Placement Director, and Director of Exten- sion. A native of Almont, Dr. Olson received his bachelor of science degree from Dickinson State College in 1948 and his master of education and doctor of philosophy degrees from the University of North Dakota. Dr. Olson has been a member of the State Col- lege and University Extension Committee, the State Steering Committee for Titles I and III of the Higher Education Facilities Act, and the State Junior College Evaluation Team. He is past President of the Southwest District of the North Dakota Education Association. y Minot State College is fortunate to have such an outstanding man as its President. Now, near the end, of his first year with us, the Beaver Would like to congratulate Dr. Gordon B.
